Roma, 28 ottobre 2025 – Ieri alle 18 nella Sala Nassiriya del Senato della Repubblica, si è svolta la presentazione italiana de La Dolce Via Festival, l’iniziativa ideata da Benedetta Paravia per portare il cinema italiano negli Emirati Arabi Uniti e rafforzare il ponte culturale tra le due Nazioni, favorendo la nascita di un hub cinematografico congiunto per coproduzioni, formazione e scambi culturali.
Su iniziativa della Senatrice Cinzia Pellegrino (FdI), l’evento ha visto la partecipazione di S.E. Abdulla Al Subousi, Ambasciatore degli Emirati Arabi Uniti in Italia, dell’Assessore regionale Simona Renata Baldassarre, del Senatore Marco Scurria, del Direttore della Regione Lazio Paolo Giuntarelli, del Presidente di Cinecittà Antonio Saccone, della Presidente della Liguria Film Commission Cristina Bolla e del regista e produttore Gabriele Mainetti, nominato Ambassador del Festival negli Emirati Arabi Uniti.
La Senatrice Cinzia Pellegrino, aprendo i lavori, ha dichiarato: “La creazione di un centro stabile che favorisca joint venture e coproduzioni, formando giovani emiratini nelle nostre scuole di cinema, rappresenta un obiettivo ambizioso e in linea con la visione di politica estera del governo Meloni. Il cinema è da sempre un ponte tra generazioni, culture e popoli.”
S.E. Abdulla Al Subousi ha espresso gratitudine per l’invito con più sinceri auguri di successo agli organizzatori del Festival, per la visione e l’impegno profusi nel rafforzare i legami culturali tra Italia ed Emirati.
L’Assessore Simona Renata Baldassarre ha evidenziato il ruolo della Regione Lazio nel sostenere “iniziative che promuovano talento, formazione e cooperazione internazionale nel campo della cultura e delle arti visive.”
Il Senatore Marco Scurria ha ricordato la genesi del progetto: “Quando Benedetta Paravia mi presentò La Dolce Via Festival, compresi subito il valore dell’idea: saper raccontare le eccellenze italiane e la bellezza del nostro cinema attraverso un dialogo internazionale e’ un valore fondamentale.
Il Direttore Paolo Giuntarelli ha sottolineato che il progetto rappresenta “un modello virtuoso di diplomazia culturale capace di generare valore e collaborazioni attraverso l’audiovisivo.
Il Presidente di Cinecittà Antonio Saccone ha dichiarato: “Cinecittà è tornata a splendere grazie a investimenti e nuove tecnologie come la più grande Virtual Room d’Europa. Festivals come La Dolce Via aiutano a riavvicinare le nuove generazioni al cinema come arte e patrimonio universale.”
«La collaborazione con La Dolce Via Festival rappresenta un’importante opportunità per sviluppare sinergie tra la Liguria e gli Emirati Arabi, formando i professionisti del futuro nell’audiovisivo. Le masterclass e i momenti BtoB favoriscono lo scambio tra studenti e operatori del settore, creando nuovi progetti e sceneggiature che valorizzano il nostro territorio e la nostra regione», ha dichiarato Cristina Bolla, Presidente di Genova Liguria Film Commission e Direttore del Portofino Days.
Il regista Gabriele Mainetti, compagno di scuola di Paravia e Ambassador del Festival, ha espresso entusiasmo per il suo ruolo: “Amo confrontarmi con i giovani cineasti. Spero di essere all’altezza nel rappresentare l’Italia e contribuire a creare ponti culturali tra il nostro Paese e gli Emirati.” Mainetti parteciperà alle prime tre tappe del Festival in Abu Dhabi e Dubai e ha sottolineato che questa esperienza rappresenta un’occasione per promuovere il cinema italiano e scoprire gli Emirati come hub culturale e cinematografico in forte espansione.
La Dolce Via Festival, ideato da Benedetta Paravia, insignita dal Governo emiratense dello status di “Golden Citizen”, è promosso da A.N.G.E.L.S. – Associazione Nazionale Giovani Energie Latrici di Solidarietà APS, con il patrocinio del Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale, del Ministero della Cultura, del Ministero del Turismo e della Regione Lazio, e per la parte emiratense si svolge sotto gli auspici del Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale degli Emirati Arabi Uniti, in collaborazione con il Ministero della Cultura, il Ministero dell’Istruzione Superiore e della Ricerca Scientifica e l’Ambasciata d’Italia ad Abu Dhabi, con le media partnership di RAI e Abu Dhabi Media.
L’edizione emiratense, in programma il 24 novembre ad Abu Dhabi e il 25-26 novembre a Dubai, vedrà la partecipazione di Mainetti con la proiezione della sua trilogia e due masterclass e un workshop dedicati agli studenti universitari e post-universitari delle Facoltà di Arti e di Media & Comunicazione.

Rome, October 28, 2025 – Yesterday at 6 p.m., in the Nassiriya Hall of the Senate of the Republic, the Italian presentation of La Dolce Via Festival took place. The initiative, created by Benedetta Paravia, aims to bring Italian cinema to the United Arab Emirates and reinforce the cultural bridge between the two nations, encouraging the establishment of a joint film hub dedicated to co-productions, training, and cultural exchange.
The event, promoted by Senator Cinzia Pellegrino (FdI), was attended by H.E. Abdulla Al Subousi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Italy, by Regional Councillor Simona Renata Baldassarre, by Senator Marco Scurria, by the Director of the Lazio Region Paolo Giuntarelli, by the President of Cinecittà Antonio Saccone, by the President of the Liguria Film Commission Cristina Bolla, and by director and producer Gabriele Mainetti, appointed Ambassador of the Festival in the United Arab Emirates.
Opening the meeting, Senator Cinzia Pellegrino stated: “The creation of a permanent center that promotes joint ventures and co-productions, and trains young Emiratis in our film schools, represents an ambitious objective aligned with the foreign policy vision of the Meloni government. Cinema has always been a bridge between generations, cultures, and peoples.”
H.E. Abdulla Al Subousi expressed his gratitude for the invitation and conveyed his sincere wishes of success to the organizers of the Festival, praising the vision and commitment dedicated to strengthening cultural ties between Italy and the Emirates.
Councillor Simona Renata Baldassarre highlighted the role of the Lazio Region in supporting “initiatives that promote talent, training, and international cooperation in the field of culture and visual arts.”
Senator Marco Scurria recalled the origins of the project, explaining: “When Benedetta Paravia first presented La Dolce Via Festival to me, I immediately understood the value of the idea. Being able to tell the story of Italian excellence and the beauty of our cinema through international dialogue is of fundamental importance.”
Director Paolo Giuntarelli underlined that the project represents “a virtuous model of cultural diplomacy capable of fostering value and cooperation through the audiovisual sector.”
Antonio Saccone, President of Cinecittà, remarked: “Cinecittà has returned to shine thanks to investments and new technologies such as the largest Virtual Room in Europe. Festivals like La Dolce Via help bring younger generations closer to cinema as both an art form and a universal heritage.”
Cristina Bolla, President of the Genova Liguria Film Commission and Director of Portofino Days, added: “The collaboration with La Dolce Via Festival represents an important opportunity to develop synergies between Liguria and the United Arab Emirates, training future professionals in the audiovisual field. Masterclasses and BtoB meetings foster exchange between students and industry operators, generating new projects and screenplays that enhance our territory and our region.”
Director Gabriele Mainetti, a former schoolmate of Paravia and now Ambassador of the Festival, expressed enthusiasm for his role, saying: “I love engaging with young filmmakers. I hope to live up to the task of representing Italy and helping to build cultural bridges between our country and the Emirates.” Mainetti will take part in the first three stages of the Festival in Abu Dhabi and Dubai and stressed that this experience will be an important opportunity to promote Italian cinema while discovering the UAE as a rapidly growing cultural and cinematic hub.
La Dolce Via Festival, conceived by Benedetta Paravia—who has been granted “Golden Citizen” status by the Emirati government—is promoted by A.N.G.E.L.S. – Associazione Nazionale Giovani Energie Latrici di Solidarietà APS, with the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Lazio Region. On the Emirati side, the Festival is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Embassy of Italy in Abu Dhabi, with media partnerships from RAI and Abu Dhabi Media.
The Emirati edition will take place on November 24 in Abu Dhabi and on November 25–26 in Dubai, featuring Mainetti with screenings of his trilogy, along with two masterclasses and a workshop for university and post-graduate students in Arts and Media & Communication faculties.
Benedetta Paravia, Vice President of A.N.G.E.L.S. – the association sponsoring the Festival – who presented and moderated the event, expressed her gratitude for the institutional support of this system initiative and act of cultural diplomacy, which confirms Italy’s role as an international leader in film education and as a creative bridge toward the Arab world.
