From Morgan at the piano with an extraterrestrial to Simona Ventura on the road to Eurovision, with Red Ronnie, Giovanni Terzi, Dario Fabbri, Roberto Giacobbo, Luciano Onder and Myrta Merlino ready to show a more intimate side. San Marino RTV’s new lineup blends news, music, geopolitics, health and entertainment. The message is pretty clear: small country, decidedly extra-large schedule.
SAN MARINO — If anyone still thought of San Marino RTV as simply the television network of the tiny state nestled between Emilia-Romagna and the Marche region, the presentation of its 2026-2027 programming schedule politely suggested it was time to update the remote — and perhaps the expectations as well.
This morning, September 29, the new season was presented simultaneously from two locations: the San Marino RTV studios on Mount Titano and Studio Roma Montecitorio, with Silvia Pelliccioni hosting from San Marino and Vittoriana Abate from Rome.
Director General Roberto Sergio chose a rather telling phrase: the goal is to “raise the bar even higher.” Translated from television-schedule language, that means more original productions, more familiar faces, more programs and, above all, the ambition to turn Channel 550 into something that looks well beyond the borders of the Republic.
And judging by the names gathered together, the bar does not appear to have remained anywhere near floor level.
Morgan, a Piano and an Alien. No, This Is Not the Beginning of a Joke
Among the music offerings is Il Libertario della Musica, a title that already promises a certain freedom of movement. The official ingredients are three: Morgan, a piano and an alien, setting off on a journey through the great Italian singer-songwriters.
Frankly, it is hard to ask for a more curious television premise.
Red Ronnie also returns with his historic Roxy Bar, while Mirko Casadei and Roberto Chiesa bring Balamondo TV to the schedule. Music, in other words, is not entering Mount Titano through the back door.
It is walking straight into the living room.
Eight Months of Eurovision: At This Point, It’s a Serious Relationship
Then there is the Eurovision chapter. And calling it a “chapter” is almost an understatement, because San Marino RTV has created a genuine eight-month editorial pipeline, running from Junior Eurovision in October all the way to the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2027, with Dreaming San Marino Song Contest in between and the three evenings of the San Marino Song Contest in March.
Leading the journey toward the selection of San Marino’s Eurovision representative will be Simona Ventura, who is becoming increasingly central to the broadcaster’s music strategy.
In practical terms, while elsewhere Eurovision tends to be remembered when the flags and “douze points” start appearing, San Marino has decided to turn it into something close to an entire television season.
And knowing the Eurovision audience, no one is likely to complain.
Giovanni Terzi Returns with Il Colibrì
On the talk-show front, Il Colibrì – Spazio di libertà returns, hosted by Giovanni Terzi. The format was created together with Simona Ventura and is built around interviews and freedom of expression, with guests from the cultural, social and scientific worlds.
A program that, even in previous editions, has shown little fear of long conversations. And in 2026, between seven-second reels and fingers trained for compulsive scrolling, that is almost revolutionary.
Geopolitics, AI and News: Mount Titano Can Get Pretty Serious Too
For anyone worried that San Marino RTV might be all music and entertainment, the network answers with a healthy dose of geopolitics.
Il Grande Gioco returns with Dario Fabbri and Gianmarco Morosini, while Mauro Mazza and Silvia Pelliccioni will host Titano Globale, a program that starts in San Marino and looks at what is happening far beyond its borders.
Among the new titles is L’intelligenza del futuro, focused on the impact of artificial intelligence on contemporary society, with figures from academia and culture including Luigia Calucci Aiello, Roberto Navigli, Massimo Cacciari and Alfio Quarteroni.
Apparently, after Morgan and the alien, someone had to take care of terrestrial intelligence too.
Vittoriana Abate, meanwhile, will address sensitive issues such as gender-based violence in Nessun segno addosso, while Claudia Coli and Ludmilla Voronkina Bozzetti will bring poetry and photography together in Dire l’Amore. On the business side, Leaders returns with Giordano Fatali and leading CEOs.
From Giacobbo to Onder, with Pots, Pans and Soccer in Between
Roberto Giacobbo is also back, this time with a documentary film created during Pope Leo XIV’s visit to the Republic.
On the health front, Luciano Onder continues with La casa della salute, while Angelica Amodei arrives with Abbi cura di te, dedicated to wellness.
And because any self-respecting general-interest network eventually has to pass through the kitchen, Andy Luotto and Marcello Leoni return with Attenti a quei due, where food and comedy coexist without forcing anyone to choose between laughter and sautéed onions.
Sports remain a major part of the schedule with Cose di Calcio, Telestadio, live coverage of the San Marino league and the national team. Also debuting is La Palla è Rotonda, with Fabrizio Maffei and Eraldo Pecci, designed to tell the story of Serie A through its human side as well.
The Names Are There — and There Are Quite a Few of Them
Ahead of the presentation, San Marino RTV had announced a team including, among others, Dario Fabbri, Monica Giandotti, Daniele Ruvinetti, Giovanni Terzi, Myrta Merlino, Mauro Mazza, Simona Ventura, Red Ronnie, Roberto Giacobbo, Mirko Casadei, Andy Luotto, Senhit, Luciano Onder, Giovanni Anversa and Marco Carrara.
Interestingly, in the official recap released after the press conference, Myrta Merlino appears among the announced personalities for the season but is not yet linked to a specific program title. The schedule, apparently, is still keeping a few cards close to its chest.
Small Country, Bigger and Bigger Remote Control
Behind the individual programs, however, there is a broader project. San Marino RTV is working on studios, technology, visual identity, distribution and digital development, while Channel 550, unified across the main platforms, is being presented as the gateway to a public service broadcaster that wants to speak simultaneously to San Marino, Italy and an international audience.
The new schedule does not appear interested in competing simply on the number of hours broadcast or the sheer quantity of famous faces lined up.
It seems to be searching for an identity instead: a general-interest network small enough to allow itself to experiment, yet ambitious enough to invite geopolitics, Eurovision, AI, medicine, soccer, poetry, Morgan and — let us not forget — an alien into the very same schedule.
Mount Titano may cover just over sixty square kilometers.
The programming schedule, decidedly, does not.
Il palinsesto, decisamente, no.
