Si sono svolti oggi, giovedì 4 settembre 2025, nella Chiesa di Dio Padre a Segrate, cuore di Milano 2, i funerali di Emilio Fede. Il celebre giornalista, scomparso martedì scorso all’età di 94 anni, è stato accompagnato nel suo ultimo viaggio in un clima di intimità e sobrietà, in linea con le sue stesse volontà.
La famiglia ha scelto la massima riservatezza. La camera ardente è stata aperta soltanto a una ventina di persone, pochi intimi che hanno potuto raccogliersi attorno alla salma, rispettando il desiderio espresso dallo stesso Fede, che amava ripetere di voler «andarsene da solo alle sei del mattino». La cerimonia, iniziata alle 16, è stata officiata dal parroco don Giovanni Cazzaniga.
Durante l’omelia, il sacerdote ha invitato i presenti a guardare oltre la figura pubblica del giornalista, ricordando come i suoi ultimi anni siano stati «un momento di grazia e riflessione spirituale». In chiesa è risuonata anche la voce affettuosa e ironica della figlia Sveva, che ha definito il funerale «l’ultima diretta di papà». Un ricordo tenero e dolce, con il quale ha sottolineato la serenità con cui il padre ha affrontato la fine, convinto di poter raggiungere l’amata moglie, Diana De Feo, scomparsa nel 2021. Più complessa la posizione della figlia maggiore, Simona, che ha scelto di non partecipare, spiegando la sua assenza con motivi personali e con i contrasti familiari che si erano manifestati negli ultimi anni.
Attorno al feretro si sono raccolti volti noti della politica e del giornalismo. Tra i presenti, Adriano Galliani, Paolo Brosio, Claudio Brachino e Marcello Dell’Utri, che hanno voluto rendere omaggio a un uomo che, al di là delle polemiche e delle luci della ribalta, è stato per molti un punto di riferimento. I colleghi e gli amici l’hanno ricordato come un mentore e un “padre putativo”, capace di formare e guidare intere generazioni di cronisti. Particolarmente toccante il ricordo del fratello, che ha voluto sottolineare l’impegno costante di Emilio Fede nel trasmettere il mestiere del giornalista con passione e dedizione.
Al termine delle esequie, il corpo è stato cremato. Le ceneri saranno trasferite a Mirabella Eclano, in provincia di Avellino, per riposare nella cappella di famiglia De Feo, accanto alla moglie Diana. Un ritorno alle radici, nel silenzio di un affetto che sopravvive al tempo.
Così si chiude la lunga parabola di Emilio Fede: figura divisiva, spesso controversa, ma indubbiamente centrale nella storia della televisione e del giornalismo italiani. Nella sua “Milano 2”, luogo simbolo di un’epoca e cornice di tante pagine televisive, si è consumato l’ultimo capitolo di una vita vissuta sotto i riflettori, ma conclusa nella riservatezza di un addio intimo e raccolto.
Today, Thursday, September 4, 2025, the funeral of Emilio Fede was held at the Church of God the Father in Segrate, in the heart of Milano 2. The renowned journalist, who passed away last Tuesday at the age of 94, was accompanied on his final journey in an atmosphere of intimacy and sobriety, in line with his own wishes.
The family chose the utmost discretion. The wake was attended by only about twenty close relatives and friends who gathered around the coffin, in respect of Fede’s wish, often repeated, to “leave alone at six in the morning.” The ceremony began at 4 p.m. and was officiated by parish priest Father Giovanni Cazzaniga.
During the homily, the priest invited those present to look beyond the public figure of the journalist, recalling how his final years had been “a moment of grace and spiritual reflection.” The affectionate and ironic voice of his daughter Sveva also resonated in the church, as she described the funeral as “dad’s last live broadcast.” A tender and sweet memory, highlighting the serenity with which her father faced the end, convinced that he would be reunited with his beloved wife, Diana De Feo, who passed away in 2021. The situation was more complex for the eldest daughter, Simona, who chose not to attend, explaining her absence with personal reasons and family conflicts that had emerged in recent years.
Around the coffin gathered well-known figures from politics and journalism. Among those present were Adriano Galliani, Paolo Brosio, Claudio Brachino, and Marcello Dell’Utri, who paid tribute to a man who, beyond controversies and the spotlight, had been a point of reference for many. Colleagues and friends remembered him as a mentor and a “surrogate father,” capable of guiding and shaping entire generations of reporters. Particularly moving was the recollection of his brother, who emphasized Fede’s constant commitment to passing on the craft of journalism with passion and dedication.
At the end of the service, the body was cremated. The ashes will be taken to Mirabella Eclano, in the province of Avellino, to rest in the De Feo family chapel alongside his wife Diana. A return to his roots, in the silence of an affection that survives time.
