Italian cinema paid tribute to one of its most beloved and recognizable icons. During the 2026 David di Donatello Awards, Ornella Muti was honored with the Special Lifetime Achievement David Award by the Academy of Italian Cinema, celebrating more than fifty years of cinema, elegance and talent.

During the 1970s she won over audiences and critics alike with films such as Romanzo Popolare by Mario Monicelli and The Last Woman by Marco Ferreri. The 1980s definitively established her as a major star thanks to comedies that later became true cult classics of Italian television, such as The Taming of the Scoundrel and Madly in Love alongside Adriano Celentano.
Her career continued across decades and generations, moving from auteur cinema to major popular successes: from The Voyage of Captain Fracassa by Ettore Scola to Life Is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni. Her international appeal also grew through films such as Flash Gordon by Mike Hodges and To Rome with Love by Woody Allen.
With more than one hundred films, Silver Ribbon nominations, a Golden Globe award and an image that became iconic far beyond Italian borders, Ornella Muti achieved something very few actresses truly manage to build over time.
