The Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara hosts, from 11 October 2025 to 8 February 2026, the major exhibition “Marc Chagall. Witness of His Time”, an itinerary of surprising emotional intensity that invites the public to immerse themselves in the poetic universe of one of the most important and beloved masters of twentieth-century art.
An extraordinary journey that reveals how Marc Chagall (Vitebsk, 1887 – Saint-Paul de Vence, 1985), universally known for his floating figures and vividly enchanted atmospheres, managed to keep alive the memory of his homeland, his traditions, and his affections, always projecting them toward new expressive horizons.
Through 200 works—including paintings, drawings, and engravings—and two immersive rooms that allow visitors to admire some monumental creations in an engaging and spectacular dimension, the exhibition highlights the profound humanity of Chagall’s oeuvre: an artist who was multifaceted, visionary, and a witness of his time, a poet of beauty and guardian of memory. Split faces, multiplying profiles, mirrored portraits: through the theme of the double, he reveals his extraordinary ability to grasp the duality of human existence. And again, flying lovers, talking animals, explosive bouquets become, transcending the visible, universal metaphors. Through his poetic gaze, Chagall transforms personal experience into shared reflection, revealing how behind the apparent simplicity of his creations lie themes that touch every human being: identity, exile, spirituality, and the joy of living.

Il Palazzo dei Diamanti di Ferrara ospita, dall’11 ottobre 2025 all’8 febbraio 2026, la grande mostra “Marc Chagall. Testimone del suo tempo”, un itinerario di sorprendente intensità emotiva che invita il pubblico a immergersi nell’universo poetico di uno dei più importanti e amati maestri dell’arte del Novecento.
Un viaggio straordinario che rivela come Marc Chagall (Vitebsk, 1887 – Saint-Paul de Vence, 1985), universalmente noto per le sue figure fluttuanti e le atmosfere vividamente incantate, sia riuscito a mantenere viva la memoria della sua terra, delle sue tradizioni e dei suoi affetti, proiettandoli costantemente verso nuovi orizzonti espressivi.
La mostra presenta 200 opere tra dipinti, disegni e incisioni, unite a due sale immersive che consentono ai visitatori di ammirare alcune creazioni monumentali in una dimensione coinvolgente e spettacolare. L’esposizione mette in luce la profonda umanità dell’opera di Chagall, artista poliedrico e visionario, testimone del suo tempo, poeta della bellezza e custode della memoria. Attraverso il tema del doppio, espresso in volti divisi, profili che si moltiplicano e ritratti specchiati, emerge la sua straordinaria capacità di cogliere la dualità dell’esistenza umana. Allo stesso modo, amanti in volo, animali parlanti e bouquet esplosivi diventano metafore universali che trascendono il visibile. Con il suo sguardo poetico, Chagall trasforma l’esperienza personale in riflessione condivisa, mostrando come, dietro l’apparente semplicità delle sue creazioni, si celino temi che riguardano ogni individuo: identità, esilio, spiritualità e gioia di vivere.
