Prime Video presented the second season of the comedy show in Rome, hosted by Michela Giraud and streaming from September 18. Among the new “departed” are Fedez, Alessandro Borghese, Simona Ventura, Giuseppe Cruciani and Asia Argento.
ROME – On September 15, at Terrazza Caffarelli, Prime Video presented the second season of Roast in Peace, the comedy show that takes one of life’s traditionally least amusing occasions — a funeral — and turns it into an exercise in sarcasm, self-deprecation and jokes with very few limits.
Once again, Michela Giraud officiates the ceremony, while five public figures are placed in the metaphorical coffin — and when it comes to roast material, the comedians are unlikely to run out of ammunition: Fedez, Alessandro Borghese, Simona Ventura, Giuseppe Cruciani and Asia Argento. The second season will be available exclusively on Prime Video in Italy starting September 18.
The Funeral Where the Dead Can Talk Back
The premise of Roast in Peace comes from the American tradition of the roast, where a public figure willingly agrees to become the target of everyone else’s jokes.
Prime Video adds the coffin.
The celebrity is symbolically “memorialized” while a team of comedians dissects their career, public persona, contradictions and anything else that can be turned into comedy.
This season, the job falls to Stefano Rapone, winner of the first season, Eleazaro Rossi, and newcomers Max Angioni and Martina Catuzzi. And as if four comedians were not enough, the new season introduces the “Inconsolable”: someone genuinely close to the celebrity who makes a surprise appearance to deliver a final farewell that is anything but solemn.
In other words, at a normal funeral you do not get to respond. Here, the real challenge is sitting still and taking it.
Fedez, the Perfect Target — and the First to Laugh
At the Rome presentation, Michela Giraud said Fedez was among the cast members who had the most fun during filming, even helping set the tone for the season. Then, true to the spirit of the format, she spared him nothing.
Referring to the rapper’s recent hospitalization, Giraud joked about the possibility that he might actually have died before the show premiered. Fedez’s response: “I would have been on theme.”
Seconds later came another jab, recalling one of the most talked-about episodes from his recent public life, when she asked whether, after the roast, he had called “his mother or his lawyer.”
Meanwhile, Max Angioni added another dose of chaos by joking about supposed tension between Fedez and Giraud. The result? The press conference quickly began to resemble the show it was supposed to be presenting — probably the best possible calling card for Roast in Peace.
Simona Ventura and Giuseppe Cruciani: Two Very Different Worlds Ready to Be Roasted
If Fedez brings music, social media, headlines and a public life constantly under scrutiny, Simona Ventura and Giuseppe Cruciani offer the comedians two completely different kinds of material.
Ventura brings more than three decades of television, major entertainment shows, reality TV, sports and a career lived almost entirely in front of the public.
Cruciani, by contrast, has built much of his public identity around provocation, heated debate and an ability to constantly push the boundaries of conversation.
Putting someone who is used to provoking others in the position of having to be provoked — at least for one night — is already a promising setup.
Five “Dead Celebrities,” Four Comedians and Michela Giraud Licensed to Bury Them
The cast is built around contrast.
Alongside Fedez, Ventura and Cruciani are Alessandro Borghese, one of the most recognizable faces of Italian food television, and Asia Argento, the actress and director who has spent years moving through cinema, pop culture and public debate without ever being easy to categorize.
Holding this collective funeral together is Michela Giraud, an officiant whose job is essentially to manage the chaos while actively helping create it.
The second season is produced by Stand By Me in collaboration with Prime Video. Prime Video had already included the show among the leading titles in its Italian fall 2026 lineup.
Laugh at Yourself Before Someone Else Does
Behind the coffin, the funeral wreaths and the dark humor, Roast in Peace is actually built on a fairly simple rule: to take part, you have to accept that you cannot completely control the story other people tell about you.
For public figures used to managing interviews, appearances, social media and their public image, that is no small thing.
A roast really works when the celebrity agrees to play along — and when the joke gets close enough to sting without ever stopping being funny.
The second season begins with five personalities who have accumulated enough headlines, controversies, successes and missteps to keep an entire funeral procession busy.
Fedez, Cruciani and Simona Ventura, at least, made it out of the Rome presentation alive.
Starting September 18, audiences will find out what condition they are in by the end of their televised funerals.

ROMA – Il 15 settembre, alla Terrazza Caffarelli, Prime Video ha presentato la seconda stagione di Roast in Peace, il comedy show che prende uno dei momenti tradizionalmente meno divertenti dell’esistenza, il funerale, e lo trasforma in un esercizio di sarcasmo, autoironia e battute senza troppi riguardi.
A officiare ancora una volta la cerimonia è Michela Giraud, mentre nella bara metaforica finiscono cinque personaggi che, quanto a materiale per un roast, difficilmente rischiano di lasciare i comici senza argomenti: Fedez, Alessandro Borghese, Simona Ventura, Giuseppe Cruciani e Asia Argento. La seconda stagione sarà disponibile dal 18 settembre in esclusiva su Prime Video in Italia.
Il funerale dove il morto può rispondere
Il meccanismo di Roast in Peace parte dalla tradizione americana del roast, dove un personaggio pubblico accetta volontariamente di diventare bersaglio delle battute degli altri.
Prime Video aggiunge la bara.
La celebrity viene simbolicamente “celebrata” mentre una squadra di comici passa al setaccio carriera, personaggio pubblico, contraddizioni e tutto ciò che possa trasformarsi in materiale comico.
Quest’anno a farlo sono Stefano Rapone, vincitore della prima stagione, Eleazaro Rossi e le new entry Max Angioni e Martina Catuzzi. E se quattro comici non fossero abbastanza, arriva anche una delle novità della stagione: l’“Inconsolabile”, una persona realmente vicina al protagonista che compare a sorpresa per un ultimo saluto decisamente poco funebre.
Insomma: se normalmente al proprio funerale non si può replicare, qui il problema è opposto. Bisogna riuscire a stare seduti e incassare.
Fedez, bersaglio perfetto e primo a ridere
Alla presentazione romana, Michela Giraud ha raccontato come Fedez sia stato tra i protagonisti più divertiti durante le registrazioni, contribuendo anche a definire il tono del cast. Poi, fedele allo spirito del format, non gli ha risparmiato nulla.
Ricordando il recente ricovero del rapper, Giraud ha scherzato sul rischio che potesse morire davvero prima dell’uscita del programma. Risposta di Fedez: “Sarei stato in tema.”
Pochi secondi dopo è arrivata anche una frecciata che richiamava una delle vicende più note della sua storia recente: la domanda se, dopo il roast, avesse chiamato “la mamma o l’avvocato”.
Nel frattempo Max Angioni ha pensato bene di aggiungere un’ulteriore dose di caos, scherzando su una presunta tensione tra Fedez e Giraud. Risultato: la conferenza di presentazione ha iniziato rapidamente ad assomigliare al programma che doveva raccontare, il miglior biglietto da visita possibile per Roast in Peace.
Simona Ventura e Giuseppe Cruciani: due universi pronti per il roast
Se Fedez porta con sé musica, social, cronaca e una vita pubblica vissuta spesso sotto i riflettori, Simona Ventura e Giuseppe Cruciani offrono ai comici due territori completamente differenti.
Ventura significa oltre trent’anni di televisione, grandi show, reality, sport, conduzioni e una carriera attraversata sotto gli occhi del pubblico.
Cruciani, invece, ha costruito buona parte della propria riconoscibilità proprio sulla provocazione, sul dibattito acceso e sulla capacità di spostare continuamente il limite della conversazione.
Mettere un personaggio abituato a provocare nella posizione di chi, almeno per una sera, deve lasciarsi provocare è già di per sé una buona premessa comica.
Cinque “defunti”, quattro comici e Michela Giraud con licenza di seppellire
Il cast è costruito proprio sulla diversità.
Accanto a Fedez, Ventura e Cruciani ci sono Alessandro Borghese, uno dei volti più riconoscibili della cucina televisiva italiana, e Asia Argento, attrice e regista che da anni attraversa cinema, cultura pop e dibattito pubblico senza essere esattamente un personaggio facile da incasellare.
A tenere insieme questo funerale collettivo resta Michela Giraud, officiante chiamata a fare ciò che le riesce meglio: accompagnare il disastro mentre contribuisce attivamente a provocarlo.
La seconda stagione è prodotta da Stand By Me in collaborazione con Prime Video. Prime Video l’aveva inserita già a luglio tra i titoli di punta della propria offerta italiana per l’autunno 2026.
Ridere di sé prima che lo facciano gli altri
Dietro la bara, le corone e il dark humor, Roast in Peace vive in realtà di una regola piuttosto semplice: per partecipare bisogna accettare di non controllare completamente il racconto che gli altri fanno di noi.
Per personaggi abituati a gestire interviste, apparizioni, social e immagine pubblica, non è necessariamente poco.
Il roast funziona proprio quando la celebrity decide di stare al gioco e quando la battuta può arrivare abbastanza vicino al bersaglio da far male senza smettere di far ridere.
La seconda stagione sembra partire con cinque protagonisti che di storie pubbliche, titoli, polemiche, successi e cadute ne hanno accumulate abbastanza da tenere impegnato un intero corteo funebre.
Fedez, Cruciani e Simona Ventura, almeno, dalla presentazione romana sono usciti vivi.
Dal 18 settembre, toccherà scoprire in che condizioni arriveranno alla fine del loro funerale televisivo.
